Retirement of addresses in Northern Territory and Queensland

Geoscape has continued to review and retire addresses that were provided by contributors where they are considered to be either historical and have been replaced by other addresses or are “infill” addresses. Focus for the February 2024 Release has been applied to the Northern Territory where 850 addresses have been retired and in Queensland where 450 addresses have been retired. In both cases, the addresses are considered not in use by the community and as such, have been retired and allocated a confidence level of -1.

Impact of Cadastral shifts in Victoria on address geocodes

As mentioned in previous G-NAF Release reports, the Victorian Government’s spatial upgrade of cadastre has been occurring over the year. Whilst changes in the urban areas have only had a small impact on address geocodes, the shifts in rural areas are larger, resulting in more noticeable changes to many G-NAF address geocodes. The movements in geocodes range from 1 to 40 metres. Addresses with a geocode_type_code of PAPS (i.e. distance-based addresses) have not been moved as a result of the cadastre shift and in some cases, the address geocode may now be located outside of the parcel in the road casement. It is anticipated these will be moved at a later date to be consistent with the upgraded cadastre.

Removal of the ‘Documents’ folder from data packages

From November 2023, Geoscape will be progressively moving product descriptions, guides and reports online to docs.geoscape.com.au

Commencing with the May 2024 release, data packages will no longer include the Documents folder.
