G-NAF will include the ABS Mesh Block 2026 data as of the August 2026 G-NAF release, and for the August 2026 release of G-NAF, this will be in addition to the Mesh Block data for 2016 and 2021.
As of the November 2026 release of G-NAF, the Mesh Block 2016 data will no longer be supplied with G-NAF.
The stated intention of the ADDRESS_FEATURE table is to create a traceable link between temporal addresses that have been updated such that the update has triggered an updated ADDRESS_DETAIL_PID (retire/add process), but where the underlying address feature is essentially unchanged (eg changes in locality or street name).
For the most part, this approach has been working as expected but there are cases where retired addresses has been reinstated at a later date (for various reasons) and the premise of the ADDRESS_FEATURE table facilitating a continuous link of the address feature as it has changed over time is invalidated.
To that end, we have implemented a maintenance regime to check the status of the address feature and where it is found that the “retired address chain” has been broken, the address feature has been retired. This has resulted in a drop of around 15,000 records or 6% nationally of the ADDRESS_FEATURE records and changes for individual states can be seen in the table below.
With the inclusion of the ABS Mesh Blocks 2026 data as part of the G-NAF release from August 2026, the Mesh Block 2016 data will no longer be supplied with G-NAF from the November 2026 release of G-NAF,
